Key Takeaways From Supreme Court Trump Ballot Ruling (The Epoch Times, March 4, 2024): “The Supreme Court issued a landmark, unanimous decision on March 4 clarifying that states don’t have authority under the 14th Amendment to disqualify candidates for federal office. The March 4 opinion centralized decision-making with Congress and effectively negated the possibility of multiple, ongoing court battles in states such as Colorado. It also nullified rulings that former President Donald Trump was disqualified in Maine and Illinois and removed the disqualification option from state judges, whose decisions could have been used to justify similar moves in other states.” Click here to read more.
Remarks: Tuesday, 5 March, was Super Tuesday. North Carolina was one of the states voting for primary candidates. Mr. Trump won 15 states and Mrs. Haley won Vermont. Wednesday the 6th, Haley appears to have officially dropped out of the race for the Republican nomination for President. The real fight for our nation will be seen in November. (Dr. Leon Threatt)
How the Government Used ‘Track F’ to Fund Censorship Tools: Report (The Epoch Times, March 2, 2024): “Officials from the National Science Foundation tried to conceal the spending of millions of taxpayer dollars on research and development for artificial intelligence tools used to censor political speech and influence the outcome of elections, according to a new congressional report. The report looking into the National Science Foundation (NSF) is the latest addition to a growing body of evidence that critics claim shows federal officials—especially at the FBI and the CIA—are creating a “censorship-industrial complex” to monitor American public expression and suppress speech disfavored by the government. “In the name of combatting alleged misinformation regarding COVID-19 and the 2020 election, NSF has been issuing multimillion-dollar grants to university and nonprofit research teams,” states the report by the House Judiciary Committee and its Select Subcommittee on the Weaponization of the Federal Government.” Click here to read more.
Social Media Companies Defend their First Amendment Right to Censor Americans (The Epoch Times, March 3, 2024): “As the Supreme Court considers the constitutionality of laws in Florida and Texas that would regulate social media companies’ practice of blocking content, tech companies have been standing up for what they claim is their First Amendment right to control speech on their platforms. But proponents of the state laws say they do not restrict social media platforms’ ability to speak, but rather their ability to deny service because of customers’ viewpoints.” Click here to read more.
Remarks: We witnessed, during the 2020 election season, many of the Big Tech platforms denying conservative groups and candidates full access to their message. Florida and Texas passed legislation limiting these media companies from censoring their customers based on their messages or views. (Dr. Leon Threatt)
Voters Want Open Records (The John Locke Foundation, November 30, 2023): “North Carolinians want transparency, according to the latest Civitas Poll. The survey found that 93.5% of likely voters in the state believe open records laws are important in maintaining accountability, with a majority believing they are extremely important. Support for open records is exceedingly bipartisan, with over 90% of both Democrats and Republicans recognizing its importance. In September, the General Assembly passed a budget that included a provision to allow lawmakers to determine what qualifies as a public record and destroy the items that they unilaterally determine are not public records. The survey results suggest that voters would support repealing this provision, with 82.5% stating open records laws would improve their trust in state legislators. “The overwhelming support for open records laws among North Carolinians, as evidenced by the Civitas Poll, clearly demonstrates a public demand for transparency and accountability in governance,” said John Locke Foundation CEO Donald Bryson. “Voters, generally, do not believe legislators deserve special privileges compared to other public servants. My advice to the General Assembly is to reverse the open records changes in this year’s state budget before it becomes a political liability.” Click here to read more.
Remarks: I believe open records laws are an essential direction to restore confidence in government. Elected officials are supposed to be doing the people’s business, and that business needs to be accessible to the people they represent. (Dr. Leon Threatt)
Much Stronger Than Fentanyl, Nitazene Presents a Looming Crisis (The Epoch Times, March 2, 2024): “A new killer has emerged in the illegal drug market, leaving a trail of bodies in its wake. Synthetic opioids called nitazenes—up to 20 times more potent than fentanyl. A defining trait of nitazenes is their extremely high potency—hundreds to thousands of times more potent than morphine and other older opioids and 10 to 20 times more powerful than fentanyl, which is already fueling the nation’s current drug crisis.” Click here for more.
CDC Drops 5-Day Isolation Guidance for COVID-19 As Pandemic Threat Wanes (The Epoch Times, March 1, 2024): “‘We’re in a new place and that’s fantastic,’ says CDC Director Dr. Mandy Cohen, noting that the COVID-19 threat has fallen significantly. The new guidance, updated on March 1, says that the threat from COVID-19 has fallen to become more similar to that of other respiratory viruses, and so rather than providing additional virus-specific guidelines, the CDC is opting for a “unified, practical approach.” Click here to read more.
Higher Mortality Found Among Vaccinated Patients Hospitalized for COVID-19: New Study (The Epoch Times, March 1, 2024): “Vaccinated patients had a 70 percent risk of mortality compared with 37 percent in the unvaccinated group. Among hospitalized patients with COVID-19, a new study found that vaccinated patients had a significantly higher risk of mortality, suggesting vaccination may not prevent severe outcomes among hospitalized patients. The February study published in Frontiers in Immunology found mortality among vaccinated and unvaccinated patients was 70 percent and 37 percent, respectively—and the overall survival rate was two times higher in the unvaccinated group.” Click here to read more.
Remarks: What does this report really say? Don’t take the vaccine. The deaths were higher with those who got vaccinated than those who do not. (Dr. Leon Threatt)
(Source: Liberty Counsel): There is one summary for H.R.1425. This bill establishes that any convention or agreement on pandemic-related issues reached by the World Health Assembly (WHA) pursuant to a specified negotiating body shall be deemed to be a treaty requiring the advice and consent of the Senate. Liberty Counsel has a petition to support this legislation: https://lc.org/lcemail/elc2311faxhr1425?t=ELC2311-FaxHR1425&c=ELC2311-FaxHR1425
Remarks: Stop the madness of giving our sovereign rights to the United Nations. (Dr. Leon Threatt)
What is the explanation of Israel and Hamas conflict? In response to the October 7 attacks, Israel declared war on Hamas and launched aerial bombardment and ground operations in Gaza. Reportedly, more than 1,200 Israelis and foreign nationals (including 35 U.S. citizens in Israel) and more than 27,000 Palestinians in Gaza have been killed as of February 5, 2024. Click here to read a Congressional Research Report.
Remarks: What is this really about? It is first about a hatred for the Israeli people and nation. This hatred is first the work of the devil, and then seen in the heartless acts of murder and cruelty. Their enemies, like Iran, have vowed to destroy Israel. Terrorist groups, like Hamas and Hezbollah, have taken that hatred to action. Israel has a right and a responsibility to defend themselves against the assaults against their people. The land was given by God and they were instructed to drive out the inhabitants from the land. “But if ye will not drive out the inhabitants of the land from before you; then it shall come to pass, that those which ye let remain of them shall be pricks in your eyes, and thorns in you sides, and shall vex you in the land wherein ye dwell” (Numbers 33:55). (Dr. Leon Threatt)

A dynamic leader, a passionate preacher, and a tremendous visionary, Dr. Mark E Harris serves as Vice President of Family Research Council, Association of Churches and Ministries, as well as Senior Pastor of Trinity Baptist Church, Mooresville, NC. He previously served as Senior Pastor of First Baptist Church Charlotte, NC from 2005 to 2017. A native of Winston-Salem. NC, Dr. Harris graduated from Appalachian State University in 1987 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science. Upon answering God’s call to ministry that same year, Dr. Harris enrolled at Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary in Wake Forest, NC where he would earn both his Master of Divinity degree and his Doctor of Ministry degree in Christian Leadership. In 1989, he was called to his first pastorate at Center Grove Baptist Church in Clemmons, NC, where God blessed in remarkable ways with unprecedented growth, and relocation of the church campus. Answering God’s call in late 1999, Harris began as Senior Pastor of Curtis Baptist Church in Augusta, Georgia on January 1, 2000. Again, God blessed with phenomenal growth and facility expansion as the church entered a time of planning, construction, and occupation of a $7.4 million Preschool and Children’s Building at the downtown church.
Mark was married to Elizabeth Bates Harris on June 20, 1987, having first met at the Baptist Student Union at ASU. Beth majored in Middle School Education, and currently teaches 8th Grade US History at Metrolina Christian Academy in Indian Trail, NC. They have three married children, Laura Harris Christian (Jordan), John Harris (Kerry Anne), and Matthew Harris (Mallory), and ten beautiful grandchildren.
As a gifted leader, Mark has served in many leadership roles in local associations, the North Carolina Baptist State Convention, and the Southern Baptist Convention. Along with serving on numerous committees and task forces, Harris served from 1999-2009 as a Trustee of the Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary, serving as Chairman of Trustees from 2005-2007. He served as President of the NC Pastor’s Conference in 2008, on the Board of Directors of the Biblical Recorder from 2006-2010, and President of the North Carolina Baptist Convention from 2011-2013.
Working diligently to help lead the passage of the North Carolina Marriage Amendment in 2012, Mark was a founding member of the Vote for Marriage NC organization. Sensing God’s call to take a more active role in the public policy arena, in 2014, Mark ran in the GOP Primary for US Senate finishing third, behind now US Senator Thom Tillis. Following a 2015 court order for redrawing of the Congressional Districts in NC, Mark entered the special congressional election in June of 2016 for the US House, District Nine, GOP Primary, finishing second by only 134 votes. After a year of much prayer and seeking God’s guidance, Mark and Beth, in July of 2017, sensed God’s call to announce at First Baptist, Charlotte the decision to step down as Senior Pastor in order to seek the US House of Representatives, NC-9 seat. After a primary victory in May of 2018, Mark went on to win the seat in November of 2018, and with all eight counties certified, Mark was the Congressman-Elect for NC-9. However, through a decision by the NC State Board of Elections, the race was never certified by the state board, and a new election was determined to be held. Due to an acute illness that Mark experienced in January of 2019, and two subsequent surgeries he would face in March and June, Mark and Beth decided he would not be a candidate in the Special Election.
In July of 2019, Tony Perkins and General Jerry Boykin of the Family Research Council in Washington, DC, asked Mark to serve as National Director of Community Impact as part of the FRC’s Bold Advance Initiative. Then, in April of 2021, he accepted the role as Vice President of FRC for the Association of Churches and Ministries, bringing together churches, across denominational lines, to stand united and unashamed for faith, family and freedom.

Today's America is faced with multiple challenges that are impossible for anyone to escape. I can't breathe. Black Lives Matter. Not my president. George Floyd. Ahmaud Arbery. COVID-19. Breonna Taylor. Pandemic. Impeachment. Democrat. Republican. Socialism. These names and phrases spark controversy and a range of emotions including rage, hurt, sadness, and sometimes even hopelessness. How can 21st century followers of Christ react the same as nonbelievers? How can they recognize the areas in which God could be calling them into our country's combative culture war? How should they respond to national crises the way Jesus would? What is the Church's role in initiating and facilitating racial healing and reconciliation in the cities and towns across our great land? Crisis in America: A Christian Response answers these questions and challenges Christians and nonbelievers alike to go against the natural tendency to be influenced by the culture and the headlines and develop a God-inspired view to the turmoil of today.
The Body of Christ, the church, has an important role in preserving America. The church has been uniquely fashioned to influence and shape culture and society. Jesus tells His disciples, “…I will build My church, and the gates of Hades shall not prevail against it” (Matthew 16:18 NKJV). Nations that fail and faulter do so from within before they collapse from without. Very often, we witness this journey towards destruction in the progressive growth of wickedness, lawlessness, unrighteousness, corruption, sin, and debauchery.
Here are several reminders to the church on how we can help preserve our Constitutional Republic:
I believe America can only be saved and preserved by the grace and goodness of Almighty God. But I don’t think it is too late, however, we must seek Him today with our whole heart.
Dr. Leon Threatt
In our quest to restore America, fatherhood must be at the very top of our priorities. Fatherlessness is a major factor in most of the social and moral problems of our current society. Just consider some of the major ills of today—abortion, teen suicide, opioid epidemic, recidivism, childhood poverty, and the orphan crisis all greatly impacted by the failure or the absence of a father.
According to St. John 3:16, “God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.” The world was in such a state that God the Father intervened by giving Himself through His own Son to solve the human dilemma. The understanding of God being a father was strange and foreign to the average Jew. The answer was found in a father loving humanity so that a father intervened. We need fathers to do likewise. Click here to read more.
The question is what’s in store for 2024? I believe 2024 will continue to be the year of trial, difficulty and challenges. According to Second Timothy 3:1, in the last days, parlous and troubles on times will come.
I believe the days we are living in will continue to be troublesome, perilous, difficult, and challenging times. I believe we will continue to see political and moral decline. There may even be more civil unrest in major metropolitan cities. We will continue to see misinformation, deception and lawlessness.
I suspect many of our federal agencies such as FDA, CDC, and NIH will continue to push vaccines. There may even be some states and cities pushing mask mandates and lockdowns. Our economy will continue to suffer from countless failed leftist policies.
The body of Christ must be strong and very courageous. We must not faint in this hour of difficulty. We must stand strong and firm upon the truth of God’s eternal Word. Refuse to be forced to abandon the truth that you know.
We must stand firm to defend innocent pre-born life. We must stand unapologetically firm for the marriage between one man and one woman. We must demand that our government serves the rights of the people and not people serving the wants of the government. We must ensure that the Justice Department serves the Constitutional liberties and freedoms of the people. We must ensure our southern borders are secure. 2024 is an election year and we must have safe, legal and proper elections.
This year will be a year of the shaking of those things that can be shaken. But be of good courage, we win. Jesus said, “In the world you will have tribulation, but be of good cheer. I have overcome the world.”
2024 is not a year of defeat, but a year of warfare with a sure and predetermined victory. Know that, if God be for us, who can be against us.
Encouraged,
Dr. Leon Threatt

This week, we want to feature the outreach ministry of Hope Vibes created and facilitated by Emmanuel and Adrienne Threatt. Yes, my son and daughter-in-law, and we are so blessed, encouraged and proud of them both. For more information and outreach location go to their website. www.HopeVibes.org
From their website: Hope Vibes was founded as a 501c3 organization in 2017 by the husband-and-wife team of Emmanuel and Adrienne Threatt with the goal of bringing awareness, hope and real solutions to the homeless epidemic in the Charlotte-Mecklenburg region.
The seeds of Hope Vibes were planted on the couple’s very first date more than a decade ago. Walking though uptown Charlotte and seeing individuals sleeping on the ground, the couple was moved emotionally and vowed then to “do more for our homeless neighbors.” It was an idea that took root that evening and would eventually blossom years later as Hope Vibes. Click here to read more.
Remarks: Emmanuel and Adrienne along with their many volunteers have done an amazing job helping and uplifting those impacted by homelessness. Hope Vibes have moved from mere words and the debate of homelessness to hope and kindness in action. We all can learn from their impactful and measurable efforts of compassion. If you want to assist and support this awesome work, give or volunteer at one of their upcoming serve days. (Dr. Leon Threatt)
(American Center for Law and Justice, March 4, 2022): Maryland Legislature Considers Sick Bill That Could Legalize Infanticide Up to 28 Days AFTER Birth
“The Maryland legislative session is in full swing, and once again, abortion advocates are pushing their radical abortion agenda. Recently, we told you about the testimony we presented against Maryland House Bill 1171, which is attempting to codify Roe v. Wade in the Maryland constitution. Now, we’re preparing to submit testimony on Maryland Senate Bill 669 – also known as the Pregnant Person’s Freedom Act of 2022. At first glance, this bill looks like it simply changes the word “woman” to “pregnant person,” and then prevents a “pregnant person” from being investigated or penalized for “terminating or attempting to terminate” her own pregnancy. But we are well aware that abortion advocates constantly package what they sell as benign, when it is truly lethal.” Click here to read more.
Remarks: It’s so hard to believe that human beings can be so evil and twisted to come to such a state of mind. The mere thought of killing a child 28 days after birth is unimaginable. We must end the madness today! (Dr. Leon Threatt)
(The Washington Times, February 4, 2022): “This past week, at the very time multiple reports show that our country’s high priest of “scientism” — his eminence, the grand and glorious Dr. Anthony Fauci — has been lying to us about everything from the effectiveness of his monastic lockdowns to the side effects of his sacramental vaccines, the “Branch Covidians” took to the airways to call anyone who dares challenge their false religion and its venerated spiritual leader, cultists. ….The International Cultic Studies Association has this to say about what defines a cult: A cult is comprised of members and supporters who are not fully aware of the extent to which they have been exploited. A cult is characterized by an excessively zealous and unquestioning commitment to a specific leader. A cult is preoccupied with bringing in new converts into its ranks and disparages those who remain on the outside. Cults discourage and even punish questions and dissent. They use mind-numbing techniques such as denunciation to suppress doubts. Cults dictate how members should think, act and feel. Adherents must get permission and direction on how to engage in daily life. Matters as mundane as what to wear, where to shop and when to work are subject to leadership approval.” Everett Piper
Remarks: I heard Mr. Everett Piper on the weekly Stand call on Tuesday. The words “the cult of COVID” really got my attention. From what we have heard and seen in the last twenty-four month, it looks, operates, and is elevated by some as the new religion. If it is the next religion of the hour, it is certainly cultic. I recall Mr. Piper saying something to the effect of, “We must not elevate medical safety above freedom and liberty.” When and if we do, we get the bureaucrats at the CDC, FDA, and NIH commanding to American people where and how to live their lives. It’s high time to shut down the cult of COVID! (Dr. Leon Threatt)
(Liberty Counsel, March 9, 2021): “Federal law provides that at least until a vaccine is fully approved by the FDA, individuals must have the option to accept or decline the experimental drug. On March 27, 2020, the Health and Human Services (HHS) Secretary declared that circumstances exist justifying the authorization of emergency use (EUA) of drugs and biological products for COVID-19. That means people must be told the risks and benefits, and they have the right to decline a medication that is not fully licensed. The same section of the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act that authorizes the FDA to grant EUA also requires the secretary of Health and Human Services to “ensure that individuals to whom the product is administered are informed … of the option to accept or refuse administration of the product.” Click here to read more.
In a world saturated with war, violence, fear, and hate, it’s refreshing to know that in Christ Jesus there is abundant life. “The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly” (St. John 10:10 NKJV).
When economies are uncertain, and the petroleum prices are out of control we who are believers in Jesus Christ can rest assured that we have an anchor for our souls. “Because God wanted to make the unchanging nature of his purpose very clear to the heirs of what was promised, he confirmed it with an oath. God did this so that, by two unchangeable things in which it is impossible for God to lie, we who have fled to take hold of the hope set before us may be greatly encouraged. We have this hope as an anchor for the soul, firm and secure. It enters the inner sanctuary behind the curtain,” (Hebrews 6:17-19 NIV).
On June 24, 2022, the U.S. Supreme Court ended the scourge of Roe v. Wade that aided in the death of over 60 million pre-born children. The court’s decision last year has certainly saved thousands of children from the horror of abortion, yet abortion remains the leading cause of death of a person in America and globally.
Many states passed legislation to limit or end abortion in their states, however, North Carolina has become the abortion destination of the east. Some reports indicate that abortions in our state have doubled since the court’s decision.
We must strive and labor to completely end the genocide of abortion in North Carolina.

Bishop E.W. Jackson is one of many currently seeking the Republican nomination for President. I don’t know if he will achieve his goal, but I know no one who will work harder to do so than him. This man of God is what America needs to lead us forward. Former President Donald Trump is in the lead for the nomination, and I support his efforts. Yet, E.W. Jackson is certainly someone the Republican party should get behind and support. Take a moment and look at where Bishop Jackson stands on the issues, and I am fully confident you will be impressed and encouraged. (Dr. Leon Threatt)

LOVE LIFE’S STORY: “My journey began in 2012 when friends took me to a local abortion center to show me the atrocity taking place in our city. When I heard the tragic truths of abortion, I was shocked and sad to see so few actively doing anything about it. The Holy Spirit convicted me of my own lack of action and I knew that needed to change. After much prayer, He downloaded a strategy in my heart to end abortion in Charlotte by uniting and mobilizing the Church.” – Justin Reeder, Love Life Founder
Remarks: The Threatt Report and Christian Faith Center of Charlotte considers defending innocent preborn life a central and overarching duty and responsibility of the church and the Kingdom of God. We are honored to partner with Love Life and the Body of Christ to protect the voiceless preborn. (Dr. Leon Threatt)
Americans have been the most industrious and innovative people and do work very hard for their money. At the age of 8 or 9 years old, I worked in the summer as a garbage worker for one dollar a day. Then I got a big raise and it went to three dollars a day.
The vast majority of North Carolinians are some of the most hard-working people in all the nation. Therefore, our government must work equally as hard in being a good steward of the people’s money.
I believe it’s vitally important to have elected officials that understand the importance of prudent and wise spending practices, and not following the failed tax and spend polices of Washington, DC. I also believe a sound government should make raising your taxes their last option and not their first choice.
Midterm elections have historically had some of the lowest turnout numbers of all our elections, and they are even less attended in odd years. Please take the time to vote but be an informed voter. The future of our communities, state, and nation are greatly influenced by what we do in the ballot box. Encourage your family and friends to join you in voting and protecting our joint future.
